msg.now changelog — 2026-09-05 — reconnect and rename

What changed in msg.now on 2026-09-05 — reconnect and rename.

  • Messages send again after you have been away. Leave the tab for ten minutes and every message failed, and retry never worked either. The connection was being closed while you were quiet, and the web client never opened a new one. It now reconnects on its own when you come back, and anything you typed while it was down is sent as soon as it is up.
  • "Lurking" counts who is in the room and not talking. It used to mean "has never spoken", which never came back once you said one word — so a room full of quiet readers reported nobody lurking. You are lurking if you have not sent a message in the last five minutes.
  • A handle can be changed without losing anything. Your level, your photos, your wall, your friends and your notifications all follow you. Anyone who had you as a friend or blocked still does.
  • A picture that is too big to draw is refused. A four megapixel limit, checked on the server. A picture that large arrives late, or black, or not at all.
  • A blank name shows your handle. On the wall, in replies, in notifications and on the leaderboard, not only in chat.
